Overview

We are seeking an energetic, out-come oriented, and business-minded Regional Human Resources (HR) Business Partner to support all Canadian employees (distribution center) while also offering generalist support to the HR group in the US, specifically with activities related to onboarding and offboarding across the entire organization. The role will act as the representative for the Canadian workforce supporting all distribution centers located in Canada for Benjamin Moore & Co., serving in the capacity of the French Canadian Ambassador, ensuring all HR policies and documentation have been appropriately translated.

 

Based in Whitby, Ontario Canada, you will be a critical contributor to our organization, and as an HR Business Partner, you will be an advisor and thought partner to business leaders. Our ideal candidate will provide a spectrum of strategic and tactical HR support and programs such as managing sensitive employee relations matters, supporting the development and delivery of people and talent processes, leading/participating on HR project related activities and collaborating with many sections of our business to make it all happen. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and nurture strong business relationships to advise, counsel, and coach management and employees on human resources-related issues.
  • Communicate, facilitate, and champion HR programs and company-wide initiatives such as employee engagement and recognition.
  • Administer onboarding and offboarding activities for the HR department
  • Serve in supporting employees and managers with interpreting employee policies and guidelines.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and ensure that the full cycle processes for recruiting, selection and onboarding are completed.
  • Leverage employee relations knowledge to resolve complex employee relations issues and conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Acts as a performance improvement advocate to ensure fair and positive changes in people management processes while identifying gaps, offering recommendations, and coordinating changes.
  • Stay abreast of changing Canadian employment laws and best practices across all provinces and work to become familiar with US employment law practices as well.
  • Ensure consistent and timely management of employee leaves of absence including managing the reasonable accommodations processes.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree required in HR or a related field.
  • 5 or more years as a Human Resources Business Partner/Generalist; working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, employee relations, investigations, diversity, performance management, and proficiency in Canadian and US employment laws.
  • 2-3 years’ experience supporting HR functions in logistics, distribution centers and or manufacturing environment.
  • A plus to be bilingual in English and French Canadian. Ability to speak, read and or write in French Canadian and English.
  • Experience working with Supply Chain leadership required.
  • Ability to work using a collaborative, confident, and proactive counseling style in order to build strong trusting relationships, participate in difficult conversations and influence others.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills. Is self-directed and takes initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation.

  • Up to 30-35% of travel is required to support remote sites, business needs and attend business meetings as needed, including travel to the US.
